To do this efficiently and effectively, you need to consider what might cause harm to people, crew, guests, cargo etc. and to decide whether you are taking reasonable steps to mitigate the risk and prevent that harm from occurring. This process is known as a 'Risk Assessment' and it is something you should become very familiar with. A Risk Assessment is about identifying sensible measures to mitigating and controlling the risks in your workplace or on board the vessel.

This online course will provide you with an in-depth look at Risk Assessments and the areas and subjects to be considered. The course helps you to understand each of the key steps of a risk assessment, including how to identify risks, manage hazards and determine the likelihood of harm, so that you are confident in carrying out a risk assessment on your own vessel.
