Frequently Asked Questions:
Buying a Course & Logging into It
If your course was bought more than six (6) moths ago, then your access licence will have expired. This means you will no longer have access to this course and may have to purchase it again if you want to take it. It is recommended that you contact us via email at training@virsec.org if this happens, as we may be able to assist you.
We allow a six (6) month access licence to the courses that are purchased from VIRSEC. Each course will show the expiry date when you hover over it in “My Courses” on your LMS Dashboard. Once this date has expired, the course will become inactive. You will have to purchase the course again if you did not complete it in time. Once you have finished the course, we may archive it but will ensure that you have access to your certificate.
The URL for the Learning Management System is: https://virseclms.org. You will then be asked for your username [your email address] and the password you have created.
When you purchase your first course from the VIRSEC website, you will be sent two emails. The first will be an auto-generated welcome message confirming that you have a new account set up on the Learning Management System [LMS]. This is where you will take your course(s).
The second email you will receive for the first course that you purchase will be a login email for the LMS. As this is the first time that you will have bought a course, it is a time-sensitive link that will expire in seven (7) days that you must use to log into the LMS for the very first time. You will be asked to create a new password [this is for the LMS only, not the Store Login Area].
Make sure that any password you use is memorable to you, or securely saved somewhere that only you have access to. It is also advisable to use a strong password and ensure that you don’t use obvious ones such as dates of birth, or the word “password” as this will put you at risk.
If you do not login within the seven (7) days and the link becomes inactive, go here: https://virseclms.org and use the reset password link [following the instructions provided]. Do not keep clicking this link or it will cause a sever delay for you. Click once, complete the short form, and then wait until it arrives in your email. Then follow the reset password instructions. If you are still experiencing issues, contact us at training@virsec.org and we will assist you.
As long as the course is offered fully online, holds the same accreditation through the same Awarding Body and is not on a special offer, then yes, we will match that price. Some of our courses such as the STCW ISPS Courses are certificated through the UK Department for Transport (DfT) Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and there are similar courses offered in other countries under different Agencies. Courses must meet our certification and be fully online and not blended learning or classroom delivered to be price-matched.
Either try a different credit card or contact us by phone or email from the information on our website, and we can send you a secure payment link from orders@worldpay.com for the amount to be paid. We will need to know which country your bank card is registered at for any VAT/Tax requirements.
The options we offer are (a) payment via the website, (b) payment via invoice, or (c) payment via a secure link that we send you from orders@worldpay.com.
You can call us to discuss your training requirements, but we do not take card payments over the phone for security reasons. Once we have discussed your requirements, we will ask you to email us confirming what we have discussed including the names and email addresses of your candidates (for login purposes) and we will then email you a secure payment link for the cost of the course(s). Once this has been paid, we will send out the login details to your learners.
Yes, you can buy a course for someone else, but ensure that you place their name and email address in the student’s details area. If you put your own name there, then it will naturally enrol you as the learner. The payment details must be that of the person paying for the course. If you are unsure and require placing someone else on a course, or multiple persons, then we recommend that you contact us at training@virsec.org to seek advice or assistance.
Yes, companies can opt to pay via invoice, but they must comply with our strict payment terms of 30 days maximum. It is advisable to contact us at training@virsec.org to discuss payment options.
Not from the website itself, but you can buy in bulk by getting in contact with us. This is so we may assist you with the purchase as there are several options available, and also that we may advise you on the best way to enrol multiple learners onto the same or different courses. We may also offer to assist you in doing this to save you time and may offer you a bulk discount pending your requirement. Contact us via the website [https://virsec.org/contact], email: training@virsec.org or by our number: +44 (0)161 763 4427.
You may take as many courses as you wish, but if taking the MCA Approved (STCW IDSPS) Courses, it is advisable to (a) check with your ship or company which one they require you to take, and (b) confirm with us that you are indeed taking the correct course(s) as some course certification encompasses other course certification within it.
